The Preparatory Course for SAT course is designed and developed based on the expectations and requirements of the SAT Examination. This preparatory course is for pre-university students who aim for colleges and universities in the United States. It acts as a stepping stone for interested students before taking the SAT, equipping students with the knowledge, skills as well as effective strategies for the SAT examination. Students who have achieved decent results in the SAT can look forward to pursuing university or other tertiary education in the United States.

Core Module

English

The SAT English module prepares student to think as an editor and improve passages that are especially for the SAT — and that include deliberate errors. It prepares students with various English language skills such as reading and writing. Students will be trained to read and interpret a variety of texts, such as argument passages, narrative nonfiction, and make accurate analysis within the stipulated time. Students will also be trained to analyze charts and graphs that are part of the questions. The module also aims to improve students’ comprehension skills in analyzing and extracting the key information of an essay within a short period of time.

Mathematics

The Mathematics module prepares students for the SAT Subject Test (Mathematics). It covers a range of mathematics practices, with an emphasis on problem solving, modelling, using tools strategically, and using algebraic structure.

The module will develop knowledge from both algebra and geometry, which will prepare students under four main areas: Algebra, Advanced Math, Geometry and Trigonometry and Problem Solving and Data Analysis, which play critical roles in a wide range of college majors and careers.

Scope of Study

All lessons will be conducted by following Preparatory Course for SAT structure designed by Furen International School.

Duration

This is a 6-month course. For this course, there are 3 contact hours per school day, 5 days per week, for 15 contact hours per week.
