The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) is a centralized admissions exercise conducted by MOE either in the month of September or October each year for new international students who wish to join mainstream primary and secondary schools in Singapore the following January.
AEIS consists of a centralized test on English and Mathematics that will assess the applicants’ English literacy, numeracy and reasoning abilities. Applicants with good results will be offered a place in a suitable school based on school vacancies and declared address in Singapore.
The Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (Secondary 3) is designed for new International students who do not have a place in a local school and who wish to seek admission into Secondary 3 levels in January of the following academic year.
Furen International School is one of the appointed CIE centres in Singapore, which fulfils the requirements of CIE. Established in 2000, Furen International School is a Council for Private Education (CPE) registered Private Education Institution (PEI) certified under EduTrust Certification Scheme.
Furen International School offers the Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools (Secondary 3). Upon completion, students will have developed the knowledge of chosen subjects and the skills to prepare for the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) examination. Students who complete the examination with good results will get a certification from Furen International School and those with good MOE AEIS results can look forward to being placed in Secondary 3 in Singapore Government School.
This subject aims to enable students to communicate effectively in English. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to listen, read, write and speak to meet general living needs. In addition, it builds up knowledge and understanding of essential English grammar and common vocabulary at different stages and levels of learning.
Upon course completion, students will have built a strong foundation in English, which is of the same level as Singapore government school secondary 2, thus ensuring students will be able to fit in their new environment.
This subject is intended to provide students with fundamental mathematical knowledge and skills. It aims to develop the necessary mathematical concepts and skills needed for continuous learning in Mathematics and related disciplines, and for real world applications. By developing students’ mathematical thinking and problem solving skills, they are expected to apply these skills to solve problems with logical reasoning and judgement.
Upon course completion, students will build a new framework based on the Singapore government school secondary 2 syllabus, enabling easier learning in the future when enrolled in Secondary 3 class.
The PE syllabus aims to develop students’ motor and games skills and equip them with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to pursue and enjoy a physically active and healthy lifestyle.
The aims of the syllabus are to enable students to acquire understanding and knowledge so as to develop abilities and skills that are relevant to the study and practice of science; develop attributes relevant to the study and/or practice of science.
The aim of the syllabus is to further develop students’ listening and speaking ability, reading skills, writing capacity and capability for the integrated use of the language, attention to culture and the affection and moral of Chinese culture and heritage awareness.
Scope of Study
All lessons will be conducted following the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) Secondary 2 syllabus.
This is a 6 months full-time course with all lessons held on campus. There are 6 contact hours per school day, 5 days per weeks for a total of 30 contact hours per week.
At least 14 years of age as at 1 January on the year of course commencement.
Completed at least Singapore Secondary 2 education and obtained a pass in an English subject at Singapore Secondary 2 level or equivalent in country of origin.
Course Commencement Date
There are two course intakes, one commences on 1st April and 1st October of each year. If that date falls either on a Saturday or Sunday, the course will commence on the first Monday after that date.
Furen International School reserves the right to cancel a class/or programme if the minimum number of students enrolled is less than 15. Students may then choose to enrol for a later intake, if any, or withdraw from the course. For refund, please refer to our Refund Policy.
Furen International School is able to consider late enrolment after commencement of course on a case by case basis.

Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) examination is scheduled by Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) in February/March and September/October each year.
Results will be released in May and December respectively of the same year.
